The award-winning Festival Of The Year (2020/2021 awards season for the 2019 event) returns for an action-packed weekend of races. As the official Jurassic Coast Running Festival, there's so much more to this event than just really good running routes. We want to help raise awareness of the importance of looking after the gorgeous coastline that we’re lucky to have access to here in Dorset. We can't do this event this without the team at Jurassic Coast Trust who are an absolute joy to work with, and who are once again providing a great range of resources and on-site activities over the weekend to educate our runners and their families about the Jurassic Coast.
All race routes are very, very challenging and hilly, running along the South West Coastal Path (SWCP). It's certainly not for the faint hearted; it's a tough set of races, with some steep climbs, sharp descents and the most amazing views to reward yourself with. If you’re not sure what to expect, here’s a video from our 2019 event to help you get a feel for the event.
This race weekend always has the unexpected element of surprise, but there are brilliant marshals along the route for you, with aid stations to help keep you fuelled. Routes are marked using the SWCP acorn markers and will have race route signage in critical positions but will require an element of self navigation. Make sure you've read all the important runners' information on the website before signing up.
Prizes are awarded on the line for the first three male and female runners in each race, with all finishers receiving their medal and race goodies, unless you have opted out.
NEW FOR 2022. When you enter our races you will be able to opt out of receiving your finisher's goodies, which we usually hand out at the end of the race. Instead, the cost of your goody bag will be donated to the Wilder Dorset Appeal, and you can read more about that project here. If you don’t opt out, you will still get your goody bag, and you can optionally choose to make a personal contribution if you wish here. Every runner still gets a medal.
Accommodation details for the event can be found here
